The main aim of this article is to describe how translations from French to Czech developed after 1989. The year 1989 (Velvet revolution) symbolizes a significant change in the history of Czechoslovakia, as the country left the communist block and became an independent democratic State. In this article the author tries to answer the question how this political change affected the publishing of French literature in the Czech Republic.
